Dermaplaning Q & A

  • What is dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that promotes radiant, glowing skin by removing unwanted dead skin cells and vellus facial hair.

  • How does dermaplaning work?

Dermaplaning is a maximum exfoliation method where a sterile blade is stroked along the skin at a 45-degree angle, removing the uppermost layer of dead skin cells and revealing a smoother, brighter complexion.

  • What does dermaplaning feel like?

Dermaplaning feels like a gentle scraping against the skin, and it is completely pain-free.

  • How long does dermaplaning take?

Without add-ons, dermaplaning should take around 30-45 minutes.

  • Is there any downtime?

There is no downtime with dermaplaning!

  • How often should I get dermaplaning done?

It depends on your hair growth, but usually, you should get it every four weeks!

  • Who can get dermaplaning?

Anyone can get dermaplaning; it is safe for all skin types. If you are allergic to nickel, have undergone Accutane treatments within the last 6 months, or have numerous raised lesions on the skin or inflamed acne, you should not get dermaplaning done.

The procedure is performed by an aesthetician, who will gently glide a scalpel across the skin, removing the outermost layer of skin cells and hair from the face. As a byproduct, it also shaves off all hair, but the hair will grow back at the same rate and texture as before. The procedure involves the use of a 25-centimeter (10 in) scalpel, which curves into a sharp point. The blade is used on clean, dry skin on the forehead, cheeks, chin, nose, and neck.
