Photofacial
Photofacials are a laser rejuvenation therapy that stimulates collagen production and treats skin discoloration. It is a pain-free procedure that improves the appearance of hyperpigmentation, spider veins, broken capillaries, age spots, rosacea and sun spots. It uses IPL (intense pulsed light) which a handheld device is used to produce a spectrum of light, It penetrates the deeper layers of skin. Typically three to six sessions is recommended, but improvements can be seen after the first treatment. Additional sessions may be needed to address larger or darker spots.

Photofacial Q & A
How does a Photofacial work?
Photofacials use Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) which is a non-laser therapy that involves shining highly concentrated and intense beams of light intermittently on the surface of the skin. The pulses of light target pigment and vascular irregularities, smoothing out the skin’s tone and texture.
What does a Photofacial do?
Photofacials helps to reduce the effects of aging & hyperpigmentation; leaving clients with younger, even, and healthier-looking skin.
Are Photofacials safe?
Yes! As long as they are being provided by a trained professional photofacials are very safe. At Still Beauty & Med-Spa, we take lots of measures before hand to ensure our clients are good candidates for a photofacial. We always require a medical form to be filled out prior to the treatment and do a patch test to make sure your skin reacts well to the IPL.
Are Photofacials painful?
No, there may be slight discomfort but no numbing is needed and the sessions are very quick. Some clients say it feels like a dull elastic band snapping against their skin, a pin prick, or sometimes they don't feel anything at all! The Icon machine has a self-cooling tip that helps with reducing any heat or pain.
Are there any side effects with Photofacials?
There usually is some pink/redness to the skin afterwards but that will go away within a few hours.
Who shouldn't get photofacials?
IPL is not recommended for those with very tanned or naturally dark skin. Pregnant women should wait until after they have given birth before considering IPL. Patients who are taking Accutane must cease use of the drug for at least six months before receiving an IPL treatment.
